I want to buy a Philips LCD tv. There is an optional 2 year warranty, should I buy that as well? Are factory refurbished products as good as buying new?

Overstock is a reliable company, you will get what you pay for. I have used them several times with no issues at all.

A warranty with a large purchase is usually a good idea. The repair cost can often be as much as a new machine. If that should happen to you, you will kick yourself if you do not have it.

Some refurbished products are as good as buying new, others are not. I would think a LCD TV would be a above average bet as a good product.

Overstock has some good coupons at http://www.24houredeals.com/Overstock-coupons-71-mer.html to help with the cost.

Good luck.

Yes
However make sure you get the standard 1 Yr warranty and it is always a good idea for expensive products to get the extra 2 year warranty.

By law a company can't sell back as new a returned product even if there is nothing wrong with it. So a refurbished TV could be as good as new, or maybe one that was repaired.
Your warranty should cover you though.
