It gives me the creeps. People passing poisonous snakes around shouting, dancing and speaking in tongues. When they bring in the snake I have to leave the service. My Mother made me hold a little green harmless garden snake when I was six years old. I just stood there frozen, screaming, peeing my panties right there in front of God and everyone. I have never touched a snake since. It gives me the shakes just thinking about it. God bless Jesus loves you, snakes or no snakes.

Mark 16: 17 - 18 was NOT part of the original text. These two verses are NOT part of the oldest manuscripts we have of Mark. The writing style of verses 9 through 20 also varies from previous chapters. Words and phrases in verses 9 through 20 appear nowhere else in Mark. For these and other reasons most Biblical scholars today believe that these are added passages from a much later time period. If the Bible is so important to you -- do some reading and research.

Moses' staff turned into a snake and ate the two magicians' snakes. Paul was bitten by a viper but it did not kill him. Jesus called the wicked religious leaders vipers or snakes. Snakes being used in a Christian ceremony is nothing I've ever heard of and I don't want any part of it. Where is this found in the Bible?

I own a ball python, and my 3 small grandbabes think he is wonderful and hold him when they come to my house, but I would never force anyone to hold him.
I grew up around poisonous snakes living in the desert of Southern California and I have a great deal of respect and a healthy fear of them.
I would rather give them the chance to get away from me than to strike me. Non poisonous snakes, like mine, make great pets for people like me, have allergies and who have tried everything else. I just need a little company.

I'm a Christian and I believe in poisonous snake handling. Right after I kill it. Living in Texas, I have come across poisonous snakes from time to time. If it's in THEIR environment, I find another way around. If it's in my yard, we send them to the hereafter.

I do NOT! It is rediculous and no it is NOT in the Bible. The Bible NEVER tells us to act like idiots to prove how spiritual we are. Only an idiot would test God by dancing around with a snake, daring it to bite him.

MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED OR HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED DOING THIS FOOLISH ACT.

that's plain stupid, what did your master (Jesus) say to Satan on the mount "it is not proper for the servant to test its master, but it is proper for the master to test the servant"

Jesus never loved any gentiles (non Jew) we are referred in the bible as dogs and pigs, Jesus never came to the world but to his people and the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

but if any gentiles want to inherit the kingdom of god then he/she must obey the teachings of Christ as follows

"verily verity i say unto you accept your righteousness exceed the righteousness of the scribes and the Pharisees and by no means ye shall enter the kingdom of god"

in other words be better than the Jews, but how can a Christan be better than a Jew when the laws and the commandments are not obeyed?

Jesus' point was "IF" you were to handle a snake, not that you SHOULD.

Thou shalt not tempt the Lord your God.

I am Christian. I think it is a stupid practice. It is far from universal and is only practiced in one isolated region of the US. It is not likely that anyone who does believe in that nonsense will have internet access to answer you either.
