There were many books written in the 1970's when the NIV came out, not many supporting it though. It is a very inaccurate version and it came on the market with much criticism.Sorry I can't remember any names or authors of the books. Zondervan is the publisher and if you check their website you might find some supportive information. Its support really comes from the vast number of people who use it, and of course we always support what we are familiar with. It is an extremely easy Bible to read, and I use it for that reason sometimes, and some verses are really brought to light by its translation. The three main criticisms were the fact that it is a paraphrase, yet the publishers refused to admit it, and still do not admit it. 2/ It uses the Alexandrian manuscripts, as opposed to the Textus Receptus, which many scholars believe have major errors it them, and 3/ It uses a small vocabulary in order to be more readable for people whose first language is not English, and that reduces severly the accuracy. For example the word "begotton" is taken out of the Bible, which really demotes the deity of Christ. Anyway, good luck with your search. You can email me if you would like more detailed information.

It'll be pretty tough to defend the NIV. If you want a more objective approach I would suggest reading, "Let's Weigh the Evidence" by Barry Burton. Good luck.

"spectacular" does not use a modifier. Did you mean "maximum authentically"? as with every e book, it nonetheless comes all the way down to the non-public bias of ways one makes a decision to translate particular concepts into English. as an occasion, the KJV did extremely a terrible "translation" of Isaiah, changing "heyel" with "Lucifer". the unique Hebrew be conscious in its place, "heyel", ability "morning massive call". whilst Jerome of Stridonium first translated the Hebrew Scriptures to Latin to create the Vulgate, he used the be conscious "lucifer" meaning "bringer of sunshine". basically interior the King James version did the "L" become capitalized. in case you study the passage, it is not approximately Lucifer falling from heaven. it rather is comparing the fall of a king's reign to the descent of Venus (the "morning massive call") interior the night sky. there is actual no indication interior the Bible that "Lucfier" is meant to be a similar entity as devil, or is meant to be a fallen angel. those thoughts usually come from Milton's "Paradise lost".

You yourself need to support the bible not other peoples opinions.
