i am against this bloody unislamic habit!
and i was about to develop a quarrel with some Muslim radicals days ago when i refuted what they said about it is a pure Islamic habit , and it protects the ladies from the adultry sin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then they started accussing of being ignorant in Islam!
I am muslim by the way , and any impolite or rude answers will be reported , usually i don't like to report anyone but i will break my rule if someone inflicted any insult on my religion or on me personally!
i want any reliable sources about this issue , if u can pls

Fruit cake why do i report u , if i had the ability to thumb u down ;) and yes i believe in freedom of speech , but when this freedom is misunderstood and being abused by posting vulgar answers , it is called uncivlization and idiocy, so u must read and learn about the wide gap between freedom of speech and not respecting other believes or feelings!

No it's not in Islam..it's Pharaonic
it was there before Islam
they took a "weak" hadith which is not included in "al-sahehan"Bukhari nor Muslim
these r some resources:

The practise of female circumcision has been carried out for millenia by tribes in central and northern Africa.
Evidence of female gender mutilation has been found on several mummies from Pharonic Egypt.
It may date back to the belief and worship of animism.
Islam appears to have adopted the practise by default. As F.G.M. predates Islam and the major religions.
Data collected from hospitals delivery wards, shows that women who have been subjected to F.G.M. have a considerably higher instance of infant mortality.
The infant death ratio appears to rise with the type of mutilation that the female has been subjected to,from type 1 to type 3.
With the most deaths occurring in those subjected to type3.
Type1,rolling back the hood of the clitoris.,actually increases the pleasure of intimacy for the woman. Defeating the general intended purpose.
However it appears that this form of F.G.M. is the least carried out.
But all lead to a strong predisposition of urinary tract infection and associated conditions.
Since 1998 attempts have been made to educate and dissuade those who practise F.G.M. as a cultural tradition.
Records are now kept by health professionals in areas were the practise is still carried out. So that educators can be directed to the appropriate areas, in the hope of eventually putting an end to this violation of human rights.

I totally agree with solom he said exactly what I wanted to say, yeah its a sunnah so its not obligatory,so you just have to believe its an Islamic habit and as being only a sunnah you are free to do whatever you personally think,so I don't go with extreme ideas, neither "Yeah is a sunnah whom protect women for adultery sin" nor "No way its non islamic at all",our religion is the religion of moderates
May Allah bless you honey :)

As a Muslim woman myself i know of no Muslim woman who has been circumcised. It is compulsory for Muslim boys and if i have a son he will be circumcised. If i have a daughter no one would even suggest it, why would they. Its not part of the Islamic faith. I only know of it in some part of southern Africa and even then it is cultural not religious. Its not an issue for me as an Islamic woman never enters my head or any part of my faith.

May the peace, blessing and mercy of God be upon you
This is definetly not of the Sunnah
They were probably of African, specifically ethiopian or somalian?
Innovation to claim this is part of the religion, this is culutral of the africans

it is not your religion - it is a cultural event - but unfortunately its out there ! I think not just the procedure itself is barbaric, it is the fact that our bodies where made to feel and that is that! who gives a common human being the right to take that away? - I think that is just as barbaric!
Edit:
oh I'm sorry , please research the storry of world famous supermodel Waris Dirie from Somalia- she went through hell and back! GOOD LUCK

It's curious that you won't report someone unless they insult your religion or you personally. Impolite or rude answers? People have the right to be impolite or rude tho it is not nice. Sounds a little like the radicals you were talking to.
I know you'll report me. I guess you don't believe in freedom of speech like we do in America.
