There are two types of rat poison. The most common type causes bleeding disorders, bruising, blood in the urine or stool, bloody nose etc (it stops them from being able to clot) The other type is a neurotoxin that causes seizures, and other neurologic activity. If you think your pet got into it, get to a vet immediately, there is NOTHING you can do at home to stop the progression of the illness if its already absorbed into her system, she needs certain medications, and very possibly a blood transfusion. I cannot stress how critical medical treatment is in these cases, please do not wait until you see symptoms, its much harder to treat then.

If you wait for symtoms it is too late! Most rat poisons are anticoagulants. The dog needs to see the vet now if it ate rat poison! It can take 72 hours for symptoms to appear. If you do not want to lose your dog, you need to go to the vet!

Watch for pale gums, panting, black stools, and/or bloody urine. If you see these symptoms, it may already be too late. If you think your dog at rat poison, GO NOW, to your veterinarian so they can treat the dog. It could kill your pet.

Give your dog some hydrogen peroxide. Im not sure the dosage amount, so call your vet and ask. We had a dog who ate that crap one time and we had to take him to the E-Vet because we did not know that he had eaten it. My brother's dog ate a dead mouse who had eaten the poision, we gave him some peroxide, and he was fine. But, call your vet right away!
