I just want to understand. Why do so many people own these dogs? They are dangerous. I was walking in the park once and a medium sized pitbull bit a teenager a few meters from me. When it finally let go it ran at me, but luckily I shoved my coat in its mouth and soccerballed in in the face to scare it off. I still got a scar on my arm from it. But if that dog was really mad it would of come right back and I would have had only one option: try to make a fist and shove it right down the f*cker's throat.

I don't hate dogs and I don't want to hurt them, but if it comes down to me and the dog, I want to be the one walking out alive. Imagine if it was a child being attacked! You can say it's the owners, but as a victim, I really don't care if it's the owner or the dog. I still did nothing wrong and came out with a scar. Why whould I be subjected to this? These dogs should be BANNED.

Uneducated people are the reasons pits, rotties, germans, dobermanns, etc get bad reputations. There's going to be at least one dog in every breed on the planet that will attack someone or something for no good reason. That includes poodles, cocker spaniels (personal experience), Boston terriers (again, personal experience), shih tzus, any breed of dog. I can understand why you'd want to stay away from pits after what happened, but to say that all pits should be banned...it's like saying that since one father abuses his child, then all men should be banned from being fathers. So you happened to meet one that was a 'bad seed'. Give the good ones a chance.

before you seriously take this attitude and thought, it is best you know all the facts. The breed responsible for more bite attacks in the US per year is ta da.......drum roll please...."The Cocker Spaniel". Bet you didn't see that what coming. You probably were also not aware that the true nature of the Rot is actually a oversized bundle of love. The Rot is actually a big baby at heart and would not hurt a fly. For it to be aggressive as with Dobermans Pinscher, it has to have been treated in such a way as to become aggressive. It was not born that way. The Pit continues to get the worse rap of all. Truth be told, too much is spent on the breeds creation and along the way people have lost track of facts. The traits that were in the breed over 300 years ago are no longer there. A Pit is not born mean, like any breed it depends on how it was raised so before you go off assuming maybe it be best that you take the time to put the onus on that which is the cause.....owners who are ignorant. I am not saying do not defend yourself but at the same time understanding as to why will help put focus and responsibility where it needs to be, on the owner.

you are so ignorant? Was the dog on a leash? Was the owner paying attention? Was the dog properly trained? You dont have the answers for any of these questions. Its wrong of you to assume that it was the dogs fault. Who knows what the dog was TAUGHT to do!!!! Its the irresponible owners and breeders that give this great breed a bad name. It is also people like you too!!!! Dont sit here and talk smack about something that you know absolutly nothing about. I am a pit bull owner and would put all the money I make in the rest of my life that my pit bull would never kill anything. With proper training, socialization and love these dogs are great pets.

O.K. It could have been a frigin Lab attacking you! Or a little ankle biter, or some other breed. It is uneducated people who ruin it for a good breed of dog. I believe it is human error, we need to teach people how to take care of their dogs, whatever the breed!

I guess labs should be banned too, and most tiny breeds because more young children will be bit by them than the dogs you mentioned
