The rule of thumb is to not wear something completely white, so since the dress your looking at has brown and polka dots I'm sure it would be fine.

I wore a dress to my brothers wedding that was white but the flowers on it overpowered the white so I didnt think it was a big deal. It also was the only dress I could find that looked good on me since I had just had a baby. What I did was email a pick of the dress to my now sis in law and ask if she thought it would be a problem if I wore the dress. She of course said yes.
I wouldn't wear the dress if the white in your dress is what catches your eye or is the main color just because the bride is suppose to stand out at her wedding day.. even though she will still stand out if you wore the dress I think the best thing to do is pick another dress.. you can still buy the dress you have your eye on just wear it out on a date with your boyfriend instead of to the wedding. Thats great that you are thinking about if you should or shouldnt wear the dress. I had someone show up all in white to my wedding. While I didnt even really notice some people commented on it afterwards.

Yes. In a wedding, ONLY the brude should wear white. Anyone else wearing white will take away some of the attention of the bride. Which is why you shouldn't go and find like THE best dress possible. Wear something nice, yet not too nice.

That dress sounds pretty cute, but I'd play it safe and save it for a different time. The bride is supposed to be the one in white, so try to find another dress. Good luck! ^.^

Well if the bride loves you maybe you could get her to come along to the shop with you.
I personally wouldn't mind but then I am having quite an informal wedding. If it is a more formal wedding I wouldn't wear white.
Just ask her what she thinks.
Good luck - i am sure you will look lovely in whatever you choose!

You need to think about the personality of the bride. If she is carefree and fun, then go for it!
But if your having doubts, then don't wear it. Buy it to wear anyways and find another dress.
Happy Shopping

I personally wouldn't wear a white dress to a wedding that wasn't mine...check and see if it comes in any other colors, or pick it up and wear it to a shower or day after brunch!

if it's white with large polka dots from top to bottom then it won't look completely white. if the top is plain white then maybe it's better to pick another dress even though it is not completely white

You have to ask yourself Will this make me stand out more than the bride? If the awnser is no then it should be okay. If the awnser is yes I would find another dress.

personally, i wouldn't wear a white dress, but since it is not all white that might be okay. however, if the dress is a formal, full length gown then definitely don't wear it b/c it would not be appropriate. you should ask yourself if you would be okay with someone wearing a dress like that to you wedding.
enjoy!
