It's mostly known in literature but it is also a mindset and still exists today.
It can also be seen in paintings with idealistic qualities, such as soft colors, the presence of women and children, and natural subjects.

With a capital R, Romanticism means a period of time from 17th century to 18th century. But I don't think that's what you're looking for, is it?
