I just finished rereading a book written in 1935, I have in my collection. In the book is a study made during the late twenties and the early thirties, It was found, using sources from the anthropology, archaeology, Bibles, Korans, etc., that the quest for personal or political power was the top reason for wholesale killing of humans with religion a close second.

How about where Rome married gnostic judaism with paganism to form the most powerful religion on the planet which now is not only a church but a political entity.. and over the course of history has been responsible for the deaths of millions (see: Inquisition, Crusades, Witch trials, et al)

So a a book written 70 years ago is reliable after all the killing in the last century ? For example,Communism was not religious (their leaders actually persecuted the religious),and that ended up with millions killed.
