Anytime a woman is in a position of authority in a male dominated industry they are called a *****. I am in transportation and am in charge of about 150 men, most older. When I got the job they all thought I was a b*tch. I have since earned their trust but it was difficult. If someone thinks that of you without knowing you then they are not only immature but also must have some sort of esteem issue. Those are not people you should want to deal with either way.

I don't think that they feel that you are a beech, they just have a problem with a female holding a higher rank than they. I recall that when I was in the service any female officer was unapproachable so we just got to look and admire from afar. As to enlisted woman, I don't remember any of them giving us the time of day so we reciprocated by calling them sleazy. Makes no sense today but back then I guess it did.

Well, it hasn't changed. My first duty station with female sailors was on a ship that took 104 women to Diego Garcia (atoll in the Indian Ocean) for almost 6 months. (When we crossed the equator and went through the 'Shellback' initiation, every female participated. We had over 40 MEN who refused. They weren't even allowed to observe the fun.) Back then, the IGNORANT ones would comment that a female who joined was either a lesbian or a s.l.u.t. I was stationed with some lesbians, but that was not why they joined (at least the ones I was close enough with to exchange personals). We also had MARRIED women on board. For the most part, the single gals were no worse than most of the men when it came to sex. Women join for as many varied reasons as men do.
At one time, I supervised 11 women and about 20 or so men (ship's mess decks)and had less trouble out of the women than the men, and each one of the women was professional in their job and personal deportment. I had electricians, welders, electronic techs, personnelmen, pay clerks...When it came time to write their evaluations when they went back to their department, I enjoyed being able to give each one high marks. I even had the first runner up for Miss Tennessee for 1976 working for me. She joined to get away from her ex-husband.
I have noticed if a female in the military (and often in the civilian community) is assertive, she's a 'B'. If a man is assertive, he's STRONG. That is so wrong!

I think most of it has to do with your rank and hopefully the way you carry yourself. Beside there bound to be some good looking officer in the O club.
Now if your the other meaning that your noncom walks around the corner of your office (No Door knock on wood around corner stick head in) and your sitting on another officer lap (in this case she was married to someone else) then you are what you are. VERY TRUE STORY
There is a nice gentlemen out there for you just keep looking you find him. Just remember as long as your in the military there will always be boundaries but you won't be in the military for every.

Do not listen to anyone. You do not have to explain yourself to anyone, about anything. The only reason men say these things, is because they feel threatened by a female in the military.
I was in the Army 10 years ago, and things were no different then. Just keep doing what your doing, and do not worry about those who cannot respect you. (You are the officer!)

In my experience-I've met both enlisted and officer that sit under the same umbrella. Differences are most o's keep their secrets more so under wraps for sake of position.in my book ANY woman that maintains her self respect, is more attractive. Only boys settle for beat-up,used cars that can only get them from point a to b. It's not until they become men and truly experience the ride of a luxury model and can afford it will they buy.

Well obviously, enlisted men can't really approach a female officer for the most part because of the rank structure, so maybe its that reason rather than the other.

well with my experience in the military, most of the women got around. I dont know why, maybe because they are few and far between and they get alot of attention. You are an officer, so that immediatly says, be professional. You already have an upper hand on every non-officer.
