The third point that roger made was completely false and shows just how many people get wrongly influenced by watching too much UFC,fights end on the ground because half the time the two people involved simply know no other way to carry on a fight, stances exist for a reason and that's why we still learn them hundreds of years after they were created. ANYWAYS, moving on to your question the four important aspects are:
MENTAL AWARENESS: by this i mean that your mind has to be trained as well as your body, every fight has different outcomes and every opponent is different from another, having the necessary preparation is necessary in order to execute every move accordingly and perfectly
PHYSICAL PREPARATION:Whether people like it or not, every martial art requires at least some form of physical fitness in order to make your figting technique more effective, just like your mind needs to be prepared so does your body in order to achieve the best results.
DEDICATION: It takes dedication and preparation to be a good martial artist, you can't walk into a gym one night and expect to come out as bruce lee the next day, constant practice and exercise are necessary in order to build the spirit. the more you know about yourself and your abilities, the closer you are to achieveing perfection, moreover once you are well versed in the application of various techniques, you become more versatile on the fighting ground.
NEVER UNDERESTIMATE YOUR OPPONENT: True power does not lie in strenght but knowledge, regardless of what martial art you are practicing, you always have to remember that you are human and therefore there will always be a weak spot that someone can exploit, fight every opponent as if he is your strongets always fight with diligence and patience, because a calm mind always has the upper hand even when it does not seem so.

That's a very good question. It depends.

What's most important to a person depends on what they consider important. If they're learning a martial arts, they're probably doing it for specific reasons like the three mentioned above. By that logic, what "the most important things" are depends on why you're learning.

If it's dominance and power (including self-defence), you're probably going for Speed, technique and to some degree strength.

If it's self-betterment, Discipline, humility and health.

To show off, go for Technique, flexibility and speed.

Hope I interpreted your question correctly ^_^

Generally, it depends on the philosophy of the martial art.
Specifically, it depends on the philosophy of your teacher.

This gives each student the opportunity to shop around and find a set of priorities that most closely matches your own.

Humility, perseverance, self control, respect

Roger - If ALL fights go the ground, why have I seen some that don't? There is a time and place for pretty stances. Obviously, a fight isn't one of them.
