Go to an Army surplus store and buy an old canvas duffel bag. Stuff it with old clothes.
It works very well.

dude a heavy bag is like 80-90$ at any sports store. You are 19 years old and can't afford that? Do you have a job? Time to start saving... you can increase the power of your punches with exercise until then... and if you are into karate.... see if your instructor can cut you a deal.

i have made dozens. Get an Army duffel bag, like jv said. cut off all the side handles loops and metal ring. total so far about 5 bucks. go to a carpet store ask for a remnant any color, im sure they will help. you need about 4 feet long by 3feet tall. roll it up TIGHT and hold in place with rubber bands. now go to your brothers clothes drawers and take anything that has no metal. anything with fewer seems is great. put the carpet in the middle, fill the rags around the outside. beat on it like your brother is going to beat you for stealing his cloths. I recomend a baseball bat. then stuff it some more. use a chain to hang it from a rafter or tree limb and have a ball total cost, 5-8 bucks

I just joined the USMC and i asked what i could do and they just told me if i want to do that take a couple big pillow cases put them inside eachother, then fill it with a 1-3 inch layer of old clothes on the inside and ontop of those clothes put small rocks in the middle to add some weight and something to actually hit,if it hurts when you hit it then their is not enough padding, but it works,i use it all the time :-)

You are better of just saving because you will have to pay alot for the material's :-)
or you could just fold a mattress and tie it up, just like in the first rocky video
