Is it their duty to bear arms, fight and kill“serve” in the military?

The horror of war has wracked the world for thousands of years. Its fruits are terror, destruction, economic upheaval, orphaned children, population displacement, widespread devastation of the land, atrocities, hunger, disease, untold suffering, misery, despair, injuries, death and even genocide. All of this yields greater hatred and revenge, endless retaliation and more war, because nothing is ever permanently resolved through military conflict.

Only in a defensive just war.

The “just war” doctrine requires rigorous consideration to determine if defense by military force is legitimate.

Offensive war is never justified.

All the following considerations must be true to justify war:
1. The damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave, and certain;
2. All other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective;
3. There must be serious prospects of success;
4. The use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated.

The Allies fighting against the Nazis and their drive toward world domination during World War II is considered a just war.

With love in Christ.

dude that question completely contridicts the book of Revelation when God sais that no child of God is to pick up the sword in the end days. Plus it goes against all of what Christianity stands for. God is love,Gods love is in Christ and Christian means little Christ. this type of question is what makes Christianity hated so much I'm no Christian but do you see that there is no room for this in Christianiity

The bible teaches to respect the government of one's nation. So, if you are a citizen and of the right age, you should go to war if you are called to do so. That doesn't mean that a christian soldier ever has to kill someone. It does mean that they go as their country asks them to and pray to God for guidance in everything they will encounter.

"All that is required for evil to triumph is for a few good men to do nothing."
-Edmund Burke

Sometimes it is necessary to overcome evil. People like Hitler have not backed down or stopped genocides under any other means.

The military has provisions for "Con-Objectors"..they can do desk jobs, supply jobs, etc. But, if you object to fighting, why join up in the first place????
