You pay what you owe when you send in your tax return. If you don't pay by April 17, you will start accruing interest and penalties.

If you file a paper return, attaching a check to the return is preferred. You can pay with a credit card though 1 of 2 service providers. Both charge a fee for their service. Technically, the payment is due on or before the date the return is due.

if you have a tax person - then they will be able to compute what you owe - and it it to be sent and postmarked by Apr 17

I did my own a few years back and there was a provision to let the IRS figure your taxes - if you filled the form out to a certain line - they would complete it and send it back

I owed taxes that year - so I decided to tkae them up on the offer - I sent in my paperwork on Apr 15 - their letter got back May 30 - monies due June 15 - - - I got an 8 week FREE extension - thanks IRS

but why don;t we keep - everything - and abolish the IRS !

irs will automatically deduct what ever you owe them on you refund...but if your refund its not a lot to cover up what you owe them..they will send you a letter....but make sure you respond to them...cuz if not i'm pretty sure the interest will grow and will totally double the amount u owe them!!!

good luck
