My husband and I are have been going through IVF, so we could have a baby, and I need to stay in the area. It is not possible for me to start it over again in another place, because the doctors told me I have to do this as soon as possible, because I have a few numbers from my blood test that are borderline for the program.

How hard would it be to be classified as an exceptional family member, so we could stay where we are?

By the way, there is a slot opening up where we are at, and it pretty much is down to my husband or this other guy getting this slot.

Go to the TMC pick up the paperwork, fill it out get DEERS to stamp it. Bring it back to the TMC with the family member in question's medical records. The records will be screened and if there are medical problems that warrant enrollment into the program the family member will be enrolled.
Infertility does not usually qualify one for the program. But the doctor screening your records would know better.

IVF is not grounds for EFMP.

All EFMP does is classify you in one of several tiers, and all that does is make sure that weherever your spouse gets stationed, there will be availibilty of the specialty care you need. it does NOT mean that he won't get orders someplace that cannot take care of your needs.

Wanting to have a child is not enough to guarentee him staying put.

well, im not sure that IVF is a reason for EFMP. you would have to contact the EFMP Coordinator for your MTF.Is your IVF being done thru your MTF?
