No it would not be wrong, if this is something you are comfortable doing then go ahead. Though you do need to prepare yourself for when the cat comes back, as this could trigger a whole range of new emotions and even shock, because it is still your cat, but it is not if you know what I mean. I wish you very good luck on this very difficult choice. Take Care.

It's up to you what you do but find out what's involved first. I think they only use the skin as all the other parts of the body will de-compose, and they use glass eyes.So most of your cat will be disposed of. Then what happens when you've gone it'll just be put in the bin as it'll have not sentiment to anyone. Personally I'd cremate him and have his ashes and a photo of him next to them, then when you think the times right you can scatter them.

Lets hope you don't have to think about it for a long time yet.

No you would'nt be wrong, its obvious you are very close to your cat and it would help you in the grieving process when he dies, but then again when your cat dies his spirit goes into the next world anyway and he will still be around you so it may be better to either bury him in your garden or a pet cemetary or have him cremated and keep his ashes.

I don't think you are mad, I also have an older cat and would miss him very much when he is gone but I rather remember him how he was when alive and just let him rest in peace. I honestly think it would just be very hard to see him not moving or breathing anymore. Anyway's what matters is the spirit and that will alway's be with you in your heart.

Certainly preferable to taking him BEFORE he dies!! Lol

Seriously though, it is entirely a personal choice - not wrong by any means - but something to give a lot of thought too. As already pointed out, it could be rather daunting to see a much loved pet staring at you in a motionless state. Personally, I don't think it is something I would ever consider.

But, in answer to your question - NO it would not be wrong...

You should do what you want to do. Why do you listen to your friends. Do you let them tell you what to wear? If you have the great desire to have your cat with you for the rest of your life, and you feel that you want to have the cat perserved and on your mantel, that is your right. It may not be the right thing for everyone, but do what you think is right for you.

No I don't think so. Not if it helps with the healing of you getting over his death. It's no different then ppl who have their loved pets (or family members, cause thats what pets are after all, family) ashes in a urn on their fireplace. Or ppl who bury their pets in the yard and put up a tombstone or something. Its your pet do what makes you happy.

You have to do whatever you feel is right for you, I buried my cat in the garden then made a concrete stone to go over where she was just saying 'sweet dreams Trixie' but a year later we moved house and it broke my heart to have to leave her behide, but I made my husband bring the stone with us so it could go in my new garden, although he had to replace it with more concrete.

Wouldn't be my first choice but what to do with your cat after it has gone is your decision.

Alternatively you could have him cremated and have his ashes instilled in a cat ornament (casket). That way you have him to keep but without having to see him everyday

If you want to do it, then go ahead. Just be aware that it may creep out people who visit you.

I my opinion, I think you should accept the death of your cat, when it happens, and let him go. And, my parents and now me have had cats as pets for all of my life. I loved them all, and it hurt when they died, so I know what I am talking about.

Even I think it's weird to stuff your dead pet. But that's just my opinion.
