depends on what you need. For some things it is very real and works great. but in my oppinion some of the more wacky holistic stuff is just there to get your money. but for allignment stuff that need to be taken care of it works great.

It's clear that some people - especially those with mild back pain or tension headaches - seem to get some relief from their services, but these effects and any other positive results could easily be down to placebo effect.

The main thing that's wrong with Chiropractic is that the underlying theory is complete nonsense. As with so many pseudoscientific medicine, the supposed mechanism of action was dreamed up back in the days when little was known about the real cause and treatment of disease. Also characteristically, chiropractic attempts to treat *all* disease as being caused by 'subluxations' in the spine. In the theory, no other disease causes exist.

This is obvious nonsense, and many practitioners nowadays are more pragmatic about the limitation of chiropractic. But they'll happily apply their techniques to anything that can be related to spines, however indirectly.

Not for everyone. It depends on the cause.

Remember, the spine is the control center for the torso. If it gets out of alignment, it can throw off your whole body.

Not all chiropractors are really good. Some are too hard on the body. Find one that is more into it, if you can.

There are some great therapies they are doing, more that just an adjusment. I am finishing up a series of spinal decompressions on a $150,000 machine. I also just underwent Manipulation Under Anesthesia. At a surgical center I was put under and 2 chiropractors manipulated my back for 20 minutes. It helped a lot. There were able to adjust where I had been to tight to do.

It did absolutely nothing for me. Now my issues are pretty pronounced but at the time I didn't have health unsurance so I went a few times.
They took X-Rays and told me they could help. I admit it feels good getting an adjustment but this didn't help me at all in the long run.
I've also talked to friends and family members who have gone, for various reasons and they all describe the same kind of adjustments. I have a hard time believing the same "back crack" is going to treat all sorts of back issues.
I'd say go if you don't have other options or if you've gone to a qualified Dr, didn't get the results you hoped for and wanted to explore alternatives. It probably won't hurt.

About nine years ago I had nearly constant back and neck pain. I first went to see a medical doctor and was prescribed medications which did not help the pain. Finally, I decided to see a chiropractor and the pain was gone almost immediately. However, at that time I was also suffering from bowel problems and after expensive medical testing found nothing wrong with me, I was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome. I was prescribed medication which did not help with my bowel problems. After going to a chiropractor, my irritable bowel symptoms started to get better and finally went away. Now I recieve regular adjustments for wellness care.
