Can anyone explain how the circuits in a stun gun allow the 9 volt or AA or whatever battery to put out several hundred thousand volts?

Hi. They use a step up transformer. The voltage is high but the current is low. Other wise they would be called "kill guns".

electricity. and the over the counter ones don't work as well as you would like them to.
