The inner ear connects with the pharynx. Popping is a sign that the canal is partially blocked- swelling or infection probably. Might go away in a few days but might also develop into a inner ear infection- worst case scenario is loss of hearing and meningitis.
My advice- if this continues and/or you get ear pain and/or fever- go see your doctor and get antibiotics.

You could be congested.

Try clearing your ears by yawning or by pinching your nose shut and then blowing out through your nose. If it hurts, stop, but I usually find that helps unclog my ears. (My ears pop a lot because I used to have ear infections often as a child.)

maybe you have a cold or an ear infection. Not really a big deal, but if it bothers you, see your doctor
