That's an egregious breech of military discipline. A general officer whose wife used his rank to browbeat, threaten, or intimidate someone of lesser rank is obliged to go and apologise for his wife's behavior. The reason for that is that officers are required to be gentlemen, and that requirement is abrogated when the officer's spouse seeks favor or special treatment on her husband's account. It can make for a rough marriage for the officer involved, but the correct thing for him to do is apologize to the slighted junior serviceman and instruct his wife never to embarass and shame him in such a way again.

Some things never change and military wives propogate the fact that many love to wear their husbands' rank in the commissary and the P.X. by moving to the head of the line.
My wife had only a taste of military life during my last two years before retirement. More than once she told some old biddy in the commissary, "The line forms at the rear--so do it!"
Fortunately, the unit to which I belonged was such that I was free from repercussions that many enlisted personnel otherwise face.

Being married to a soldier and being one are two different things entirely... I only know a couple of military wives, but they don't even work, they sit around living off their husbands hazardous duty pay, sleeping til noon, screwing other men and talking about what a great sacrifice they are making for the country.
If it were up to me I'd give prison time to women that sleep with other men while their husbands are putting their lives on the line, because it happens all the time where the guys come home to find out their wives were doing terrible things while they were away.

Yes. Here's a story for you:
A COL was speaking at an event and asked all the wives to line up by rank -- after much shuffling they all lined up accordingly at which point He told them sit down none of you have rank.
This is true of course.
However it is a fact of life that wives do have "pull" with their hubby's ( it's called the wives chain) so showing respect to the commander's wife is never a bad idea weather she deserves it or not -- you catch more flies with honey! And you never know when you may need her help....
Also, Jason, not ALL military wives are lazy parasites sucking their husbands dry. In fact MOST of them volunteer thousands of hours in their communities and hold things together while hubbies are gone. Of course the few bad apples give us all a bad name --- to people who are unwilling to look for the truth.
and while it is different & I may not wear the pickle suit/class A's/etc -- I still serve.

I think that military wives need to realize that although they are married to a soldier that does not automatically make them better than anyone else. I am not just talking about wearing rank but any form of I am better than you because I know something that you don't. Who cares? I married a soldier and I am not a soldiers wife, I am my husbands wife.

yes! whenever this happens people need to put the in their place! i had this happen to my wife and i at the commisary. a captain's wife thought she didn't have to wait in line with the rest of us, so i politely let her know that she is just a wife, not a captain and refused to let her go in front of us. she ranted and raved but she waited. she wanted my name and command so i gave her my name but told her she didn't need to know my command which made her really mad but oh well like i told her, i would have no problem letting the captain go ahead of me but i know he would have waited just like the rest of us.
