Me and my ex have been friends for the past year. I got an unexpected email from him last weekend. He stated that he hated who he was when we were together and that he would never be able to make things up to me. All he could do was start new and that he thought we could work. The problems were not problems between us, just personal issues that he had. I am really confused since I was not expecting this. I miss him and there are still feelings there but I have never told him. I don't know what to do.
