We filed our state taxes by mail (GA) and it has been 6 weeks and they still have no record of it. We did our federal taxes by efile using Turbo Tax (w/ no problems) and declined filing state that way in order to save money. Now I am thinking since they havent recieved the return I mailed in, what if I go back and efile it using turbo tax. What will happen if my mailed return shows up later? Will I be "in trouble"?

It may be technically wrong to 'refile' your state return, but if you ask the state, they will probably tell you to do it anyway. As a practical matter, as long as both returns are identical, they will most likely ignore one.

with somewhat of success the tax preparer filed an Amended go back. The IRS will use this at the same time along with your unique go back to get an entire image. in case you probably did not tell the tax preparer about your first filing, it is going to confuse concerns, yet when the IRS has any questions, they're going to contact you.

No, you won't be "in trouble". The second return to be received would just be rejected, and probably sent back to you.

An alternative would be to just mail in another copy. You could send it certified mail, return receipt requested.
