No no no... we're getting our doctrines mixed up here.
Mary was not born of a virgin; her mom had sex with her dad just like normal people. Mary was, according to Catholic teaching, born without the stain of original sin. This is called the Immaculate Conception.
Christians believe that Mary was a virgin when she conceived Jesus. This is the Virgin Birth. (Official Catholic teaching states that Mary is eternally virgin, but most Catholics I know of figure she and Joseph has sex later on since they WERE a married couple.)

Not me.
Catholics believe in the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
When the angel Gabriel called Mary, "Full of grace," Mary was already full of grace.
When the angel Gabriel said, "The Lord is with you," the Lord was already with her.
The Blessed Virgin Mary was in a state of grace before she says "yes" to the angel's question and before the Holy Spirit came upon her for a different purpose.
When did Mary's state of grace begin?
Catholics believe this state of grace was with Mary since her Immaculate Conception. This means that Mary was conceived in the normal way (not like Jesus) but that she did not inherit original sin.
God prepared her for her later role as the mother of Jesus.
Catholics celebrate this miracle on December 8 as the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
With love in Christ.

I was born Catholic and still am Catholic never have I heard this drivel. This was never taught to me nor has any priest said this. Mary wasn't born of a virgin. The idiot that said this probably is confused with the concept of immaculate conception. This is where anti-Catholicism comes from: ignorant people who don't even try to learn about the church.

While it isn't catholic doctrine that mary was born of a virgin, the Immaculate Conception is a Catholic dogma that relates to mary's birth (not jesus' as many believe) and is often misunderstood to mean that she too was born of a virgin.
It states that Mary, when she was conceived was not afflicted with original sin and therefore was pure enough to bear jesus.

Hey! everyone's mom was a virgin at some time, right?
Seriously, Catholicism does not teach that Mary was of virgin birth.

It is not a doctrine of the Catholic Faith that Mary was born of a virgin. St. Anne had relations with her husband and Mary was born of the union. It was Mary's son, Yshua bar-Ysef, who was supposedly virgin-born.

I'm not a Catholic but I go to Catholic school and they teach us that mary was born a virgin just like any other religion except Jehova's Witness.

That is NOT in Catholicism!

No I do not believe that, they must have been confused. I do however disagree with the Catholics assertion that she remained a virgin her whole life when the bible clearly states Jesus had brothers and sisters.
Mathew 13:55
55"Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother's name Mary, and aren't his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?
How Catholics can assert that Mary is not their mother confuses me? If I said "Hi I'M Jayson this is my mother, and these are my brothers." You would assume she is their mother too wouldn't you? So why do Catholics decide to see a zebra instead of a horse, if you catch my meaning?
