No standing army would be aloud to stand near the White House. What keeps terrorists from attacking it is the fine job Bush has done keeping them on the run and fighting them overseas

The Marines are in charge of security for the white house. MSG, Marine Security Group (the same units that are stationed at the embassies around the world). Also, the army has a base near washington DC, the air force has andrews afb and dover afb nearby, as well as the navy yards in DC, and the Marines have 8th & I. While everyone assumes that 8th & I are ceremonial, they are actually a fully equipped infantry battalion. Don't forget that the CIA is in Falls Creek (sp?) VA, as well as FBI headquarters and Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA

I mean I heard they use to have patriot missiles, I think that is what there called. Jet fighters. Snipers. Police. Secret Service. An all that in the D.C. area. With other preperations. But I don't know if that is true. I loosely remeber that on the news once awhile ago. All I can probably say is there prepared for anything. Stuff we probably don't even know. An maybe that is for the best.

I knew several former active duty guys who came into my NG unit who had served in the 3rd US Infantry (Old Guard). While for the most part they did ceramonial duties, they did also did MOS specific training as an infantry unit.

Nope, they don't have that much security. He does that many open air speeches it would be easy to shoot him if someone wanted to.
