Well it depends. I think people have a tendency to accept it more if it is their race. I know for a fact that when an asian man sees an asian girl with a white guy they get angry.
So I think most men feel jealous why they are alone and why someone else of their own race and get a white woman.

I have a long term military background and a large percentage of relationships there are interracial. It is a lot more common than out here in the confused world. Since leaving the military, I have found bigotry, hatred, and prejudice to be rampant and widespread in all races and in every type of situation that involves peoples from more than one race having to interact. I was an innocent in not knowing that things are so bad and awful in civilian society. It reinforces Rodney King's statement about "why can't we all just get along". The entire world is mixed and just uses that for an excuse to think they are better than you. Englishmen married Germans, Hispanics married Italians and Portuguese, and Pacific Islanders married seagoing world travelers from every point on the globe. So What is wrong with black and white as long as the relationship is based upon love and not control of someone lacking in self esteem. Let's just all get along and be fair, open and decent. I for one love and accept you and your son as a fellow humans and am proud you are here asking questions to make people think.

I think that interracial relationships are some of the best relationships you can have. I don't think that any of my 16 grandchildren are of one race. The ones I enjoy the most are the two that have custody of, the oldest is not mixed as he was adopted. He refers to himself as dark chocolate, the other says he is milk chocolate and I'm white chocolate. The youngest also says that his cat Oreo is his brother because he is black and white just like him. Needless to say life is never dull with these boys around. I would also like to say that there have been a few presidents with black heritage in their background and that it isn't something new that just started happening. In the slave days the masters mixed with the slaves and we had interracial people way back then.

I've no problem with interracial relationships. I too think the resulting children are often gorgeous. Hopefully the people you see making comments are mostly just wondering about his heritage, and not being negative.
I've gotta say, I'm impressed with the answers you've gotten so far. I was afraid this subject would bring out the racist fools, but you've gotten great, enlightened answers. Probably because this is the Etiquette section, come to think of it, and the racists don't care about proper behavior.

Interracial relationships normally produce smarter offspring. They typically seem to have inherited better genes from both parents.
Normally in some countries like some parts here in Malaysia where I live, people still tend to discriminate against marriage between different races and religions due to racism and in some cases where parents do not teach their children to follow their father's root race, their children end up confusing themselves with which group of friends to be with. Their offspring is not frowned upon here, however, a couple from 2 different races holding hands still stands out in a crowd.

The more the merrier!
There needs to be a proclamation___All Citizens must inter-racially mix to eliminate any majority racial group. Maybe then all these dipsticks could handle the potential, the beauty, and the possibility of humanity.
What difference does it really make? The more we have in common the better.

I am Norwegian, my ex was Mexican so my children are both. It didn't work out for me and him and now he has nothing to do with the kids. I think people who are against interracial relationships are entitled to their opinion, however, there is no reason to take it out on a Innocent child. That child didn't ask to be born.

I think they're great, maybe because my wife is latina. As for what people think that varies from place to place. There are so many mixed race children in my neck of the woods (SF Bay area), few people even notice.

Never gave it a single thought. Whatever feels right is what is right. Pay no attention to what others think of your own decisions as long as you are happy, your son is happy and your mate is happy. In the end, what matters most is how many smiles there were in your life - not the whispers of strangers.

I've gotten the impression that the darker one partner is, the less acceptable it is to those who don't approve of it.
But who cares what they think? Silly bigots!
My husband is Mexican and I don't notice anything. He sometimes thinks he does, but I think people just look at us because we're pretty and obviously happy together.
Perhaps that's all that's going on with your kids - someone may be admiring them, or maybe just wondering about their heritage. People may do that without disapproving.
But in any case, my vote is - it's all good.
