Everyone forgot the three rules of any safe journey:
DO NOT buy, transport or in any other way be associated with drugs, or people that do them. The penalty in many countries is DEATH!
DO NOT allow anyone else to pack your luggage. ALWAYS check luggage immediately before presenting it to customs. This will avoid you being arrested, imprisoned and quite possibly executed. To avoid luggage being rumbled, put added locks on zipper heads.
DO NOT associate with any one you don't trust. If you have a bad feeling about something going on, LEAVE! And DO NOT be swayed from leaving by anyone. I have left travelling companions to their own doom, when they chose to stay in what I feel are bad situations. If you're caught, you have seconds at most to get away. There are loads of places in the world where your life is valueless, but the camera around your neck is worth all of next weeks meals.
Make an intinery and stick to it. Give it to your parents, siblings, children or anyone who gives a passing toss that you return home safely. Unless you're going abroad to do bad things, make sure your embassy knows you're in the country. That's four. Here's the fifth. Buy the SAS survival manual by Jon Weisman. Bon voyage.

1. Research about where you plan to go. That way, you know all the customs for that place and won't seem like an "intruder." Also, knowing a few phrases (if the language is different) could help in getting around better. Another thing is that you should find out some places you can visit in advance, and if you can understand, talk to people who live there for suggestions.
2. Bring extra currency. You never know when you're going to be in a pinch. Or, traveler's checks could work, too.
3. Make sure you know the laws. Laws differ from country to country, so if you break a law there that you've never heard of, then that sort of ruins a vacation.
P.S. Never go anywhere without your ID and don't lose your passport if you plan on going home!
Hope this helps and you have a fun trip! :D

No, you don't need a visa if you're only staying for a month. All you need to bring is a passport. You should get a good travel insurance as health care in the States is very costly. I got mine from the AA. Costs vary depending on how long you are going for. You can look at one for about £20-50 depending on type. Well, in Anaheim you have Disneyland. In Los Angeles, there is loads to see and do. Beverly Hills, Malibu, Hollywood, Universal Studios...the list can go on forever...

Purchase currency for that country before arriving.
Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
Make copies of your airplanes tickets, passport, credit cards and ATM card.
Leave one copy at home with a family member and carry another copy in a different place than your originals.
Be safe and enjoy your trip
