The third Person in the Godhead, being a personage of spirit, whereas the Father and the Son each are personages of spirit tabernacled with a tangible body of flesh and bones.

The third member of the Godhead and, as the name implies, a personage of Spirit, not possessing a body of flesh and bones.

The Holy Ghost is manifested in every dispensation of the gospel since the beginning, being first made known to Adam.

The Holy Ghost is manifested to men on the earth both as the power of the Holy Ghost and as the gift of the Holy Ghost. The power can come upon one before baptism, and is the convincing witness that the gospel is true. It gives one a testimony of Jesus Christ and of his work and the work of his servants upon the earth. The gift can come only after proper and authorized baptism, and is conferred by the laying on of hands, as in Acts 8: 12-25.

The gift of the Holy Ghost is the right to have, whenever one is worthy, the companionship of the Holy Ghost. More powerful than that which is available before baptism, it acts as a cleansing agent to purify a person and sanctify him from all sin. Thus it is often spoken of as “fire” (Matt. 3: 11).

The manifestation on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2) was the gift of the Holy Ghost that came upon the Twelve, without which they were not ready for their ministries to the world.

For some reason not fully explained in the scriptures, the Holy Ghost did not operate in the fulness among the Jews during the years of Jesus’ mortal sojourn (John 7: 39; John 16: 7). Statements to the effect that the Holy Ghost did not come until after Jesus was resurrected must of necessity refer to that particular dispensation only, for it is abundantly clear that the Holy Ghost was operative in earlier dispensations. Furthermore, it has reference only to the gift of the Holy Ghost not being present, since the power of the Holy Ghost was operative during the ministries of John the Baptist and Jesus; otherwise no one would have received a testimony of the truths that these men taught (cf. Matt. 16: 16-17; 1 Cor. 12: 3). When a person speaks by the power of the Holy Ghost that same power carries a conviction of the truth into the heart of the hearer.

The Holy Ghost knows all things and can lead one to know of future events (2 Pet. 1: 21).

Other names that sometimes refer to the Holy Ghost are Holy Spirit, Spirit of god, Spirit of the Lord, Comforter, and Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the Helper sent by God for believers when Jesus ascended to heaven top be with the Father.
The Holy Spirit is the 3rd person of the Trinity Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit helps us in our prayers, reminds us of the Word in time of need, gives us God's thoughts...like the sweet whisper of God's loving voice.

In the Old Testament the phrase 'holy spirit' is used only three times in the King James Version--Psa. 51:11 and Isa. 63:10,11. Most references to it are in the phrases 'spirit of God' or 'spirit of the LORD.' There is, however, no special distinction to be understood among them; the three terms may be regarded as synonymous. In the Old Testament, 'spirit' is almost always from the Hebrew ruwach, #7307, which means "wind, by resemblance breath, i.e. a sensible (or even violent) exhalation...by resemblance spirit"-- Strong. Its New Testament equivalent is the Greek pneuma.

The Holy Spirit is God; the part of God that dwells inside you, therefore opening the doors of communication between you and God.

God speaks to you through the Holy Spirit. God gives strength, comfort, discernment, correction, encouragement and peace through the Holy Spirit.

Everyone has a spirit -- the spirit of life, which is given to you when you are conceived. When you accept Christ as your Savior, the Holy Spirit comes and joins with your spirit of life, and lives in you. At that moment, you are "born again." i.e. being born in the Spirit.

People who don't believe, don't have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside them, therefore they cannot discern, they don't understand the things of God, and they don't "feel" God.

That's why I never get angry with someone who doesn't believe; who mocks or criticizes..... he doesn't understand, because he has never experienced it.

I used to be one of those who mocked and criticized. But, I've been born again.... I understand now.

In John 14:15-17, the holy spirit is described as another Counselor to replace Jesus while he is gone. It is also described as the "Spirit of Truth."

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He was present at creation

Genesis 1:26
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

He was necessary before Jesus could begin his ministry.
Luke 3:22
And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

His presence is essential to the Christian:
Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
He is our teacher:
1 Corinthians 2:13
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
