I had a simular problem. My dad was in and oout of our lives since 3yrs.old. I recently hired a detective to find him and he gave me his address. Everyone keep telling me he didn't want me,but had to find out for myself. I drove 12hrs to see him, and it had been about 8yrs. since I last seen him. It went great. So my advice to you would be get it straight from the horses mouth. No matter the outcome. Trust me, you need to know.

A letter would have been better -- more likely it would have gotten to him and would have given him time to think, and not just react (if he even knows).

Try writing him a letter.

Explain that you don't want to disrupt his life, or cause problems or hurt feelings, but that you would like to meet your biological father.

Try using a search engine to find some tips and pointers for writing such letters.

In the letter, give him your address, phone number, email, and whatever other ways he could get in touch with you.

If you can, send the letter to his workplace, so you know he gets it.

Right now, you don't know whether he even heard the message.

After sending the letter, wait.

It may take him a while to decide he wants to contact you.

But then, he may not want to get in touch with you, and if so, you'll just have to accept that.

It's no reflection on you, as he doesn't even know you. It may be that things with your biological mother were really bad or painful, and he just doesn't want to reopen old wounds.

I hope it all works out for you.

wow what a real witch he must have married.. sounds like she runs the whole show or atleast thinks she does.. i would keep trying but at different times.. maybe on the week ends or something... not to early in the morning or to late at nite..until you reach him.. do it by pay phone and if she picks up just hang up or if you got someone that can ask for him let them do it for you .. good luck and i agree with the person who said she may be jealous

I would try to contact him again until you reach him. If the wife answers the phone again ask her to let you speak with him yourself. If he tells you the same thing that she did then you have your answer. I hope things turn out ok for you.

his wife was wrong to do that. it is not her decision. how do you know he even heard the message. you need to call again with a different phone incase they have caller ID and speak to know one but him.

have a guy ask for him and then when he gets on talk to him.

I would move heaven and earth to make him tell me that himself

You should keep calling until you talk to him personally. She might just be jealous or just being a beeyotch. Anyway, until he personally tells you he wants nothing to do with you or whatever, don't give up.

I think you have the right to hear that from his mouth, and his wife is interfering.

you DO need to hear it from him.... keep calling till you either speak to your dad, or he tells you he's not interested.

never take anyones words from someone else's mouth

if she is snitty- fine just have dad call you and say on his own power

Obviously your bio father has moved on in his life and he and his wife have every right not to have you invade it. I suggest you do as she has asked, otherwise you might find yourself on the inside of a jail cell charged with harassment...Not everyone who has a child somewhere out there wants to know that child or wants them to find them and you can't force yourself upon them.

if you really want to be able to say you met him then try and arrange for the meeting. but it could hurt you alot so be careful.
