Yes, of course you should be informed of the medication that
you were prescribed, the reason or diagnosis from the Dr.
including if there is a chemical imbalance & to what degree.
As far as the pharmasist is concerned, he too should be helping you with info, if not ask him for a print out of the drug,
and all info re: side effects, complications, like if there is foods, drinks, etc. you should avoid. This is his job Sweety so, don't take no for an answer! You want it in writting so you'll remember all statistics. And yes, by all means Dr.'s are
notorious for "especially psychiatrists" are careless and misleading with prescribing medications. They're happy to do
it for you though, because he/she knows you'll be back for the next month. You see they will/might sit & talk with you, knowing well they will give u med's Whereas a psycoloigist can only talk & give you feed back, as they have no license
like your's for an M.D. to write presciptions. I'd much rather see you go a phsycoloigist than a "Pill Pusher" I'm sorry I'm just being honest and don't like pills. Can you please do me a favour & go to the Library and ask the lady to guide u to a book "tell her the problem u have they don't care" and read it
in your spare time? I'll bet YOU'D be able to tell your Dr a thing or 2 and get a whole new perspective on YOU! PLEASE, for me, for you. You won't regret it. If it's Self-Help?
Whatever you think you need, and you whisper there right?
All the Best of Luck, and if u like get back to me 1/2 way into
the book. O.K? Take Care, I Care!

Usually your Dr will give you a fair share of information about these drugs but the main reason he is putting you on them in the first place is to get your depression under control. Usually it will take about three weeks before you will feel the effects of the medication and after that things will start to improve if the medication is the correct one for you. If not, your Dr needs to know so he/she can change it and get you on the right one that is going to help your symptoms. Sometimes you might have to try several before finding the one that works for you.
Good Luck.

Doctors are human like the rest of us. Some suck at giving the appropriate info and some are great. That's why you got to hunt for one you feel comfortable with. Also, a lot of patients don't speak up or tell the doctor everything so maybe they don't have enough info in the first place.

If the doctor doesn't tell you the side effects, the pharmacist will. Generally you are so into not feeling the way you do that you would take anything that was said to make you feel better. What I do before I take any medicine is check out the net to see what is said about the pill/drug I am taking and the side effects possible.

Doctors (and psychologists, psychiatrists) are paid to solve problems. If you go to a doctor with symptoms they are going to keep looking until they find something wrong (whether there is something wrong or not) because they need to earn their money.
In the old days, doctors would just reassure that you were really okay. Nowadays, doctors get kick-backs from drug companies and so it PAYS for them to find something wrong and prescribe something for you.
Antidepressants is the biggest medical kickback scam going!

no, there isnt anything in on the doctors that would benefit them when misleading a prescription. Unless the person is misdiagnosed.

YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU ALWAYS ASK ABOUT MEDS BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T THEN THEY THINK YOU ARE OKAY WITH EVERYTHING. IT'S UP TO YOU AND THEN
