Who the **** is that?

No. The High Priest of the Catholic Church is not the pope, it is Jesus. It is He whom Catholics worship. However, His Kingdom on Earth must have an earthly shepperd. Catholics look to the pope for guidance, not worship.

No, in fact we're not supposed to worship anyone but the Lord God.

The MEDIA, on the other hand, worship Ratzinger. He's quite a character:
* A 70-plus celibate man, in this day of rampant sexuality, he stands out.
* A devout Christian who puts his faith in front of the world every day, in this day of cultural relativism, he stands out.
* A man who stands against fanatical Islam, in this day of political correctness, he stands out.
* A man who calls for the highest level of morality, in this day of "Do what you will", he stands out.

No, he's not God on Earth. He's just a servant, but a prominent one.

Catholics worship no-one but God Himself, Who personally founded our Church, and said that all men were to belong to it.

As for the Pope, check the track record ...

Church with a Pope - unity of belief and unity of worship for 2,000 years.

Christian tradition without a Pope - 500 years of continuous division, fragmentation and doctrinal chaos.

Seems to me Christ said something about His Church being ONE, even as He and His heavenly Father are ONE. His Church still is ONE. Manmade denominational religion is a disaster, and a direct violation of His stated will.

Well, Catholics have a serious problem, because their supreme leader, Christ's representative here on here, is a real creep.

But even if the Pope wasn't a creep, it probably wouldn't be reasonable to worship him, at least not until he's dead.

Italians have a saying: Fat Pope, Skinny Pope. This means one Pope is generous and kind and the next one is angry and narrow-minded. They have a long history of tolerating Popes. What would Italy be without il papa? they ask.

Italians probably know best. The Pope is enormously LESS important to daily life now, than he was 500 years ago. they might call him a Prince today, but few people fear him or his armies, any more.

it does seem a shame that a poor widow in Cleveland Ohio will give her last dime and go to bed hungry, just so the pope can wear purple silk, but who's going to change the mind of a dying widow who wants to make a gift to God?

I'm not a catholic, but to their defense I don't think they worship the pope. I think they look at him as we would look upon a well known personality we greatly admire and respect.

No. He is the earthly head of the Roman Catholic Church, but no Catholic is required to worship the Pope, and in fact, it would be heretical to do so.

No. The Pope is not worshipped.

He is merely a Bishop, formally speaking. Specifically, the Bishop of Rome.

No. Catholics don't worship people. They worship God. Not saints, not Mary, nobody but God.
