I love New Balance running sneakers, but if I ever want to trade off but not spend and arm and a leg, what else is good... $80 or under?

Nike Air Pegaus is a good shoe for under $75. I have a narrow foot and it works well for me. My friends with wider feet like Asics. Use the page below to assess you foot and see what shoe may work best for you. Good luck!

There are lots of good shoes for under $80. You need to find what fits your foot, and is the type of shoe for your type of running. I know the brands and models that I can wear and when I see them on sale I will buy some even if I don't need a pair. That way you can alternate shoes so you do not have a wear problem. If you wear the same shoes too long they will begin to change the way you impact the ground because of the wear pattern. When we go to a new pair you may have some foot or leg problems because of the drastic change in the way your foot strikes the ground. Good Luck.

The rule for shoes is: Don't go by name, go by fit.

Go to your local running shoe store (not one of the big box sporting goods stores) and find a clerk who is a runner. Tell them what your requirements are. Try on several pairs of shoes. Walk around the store. Jog on their treadmill to see how they feel. Not every brand is for every person. You think New Balance are a good shoe, and for many people they are. I know that for me, I will end up with arch problems if I wear them for running, so I will never buy another pair. It's all about how the shoe interacts with your feet.

New Balance is a good running shoe, and some of their models are under $75.
Asics is also good, and makes some inexpensive models.

You just have to shop around, and catch them on sale.
