Smooth it over?!? Are you Crazy? You don't just have sex with some woman and then shrug it off when your gf finds out. You totally betrayed your girlfriend. She has every right to send you packing, with a footprint on your butt. That was one of the most selfish statements I have ever heard. You have completely discounted anything your girlfriend will be thinking and feeling. I hope you recieve exactly what you deserve.

I doubt that this is something that can be smoothed over. When they "talked" was the sex mentioned? If it wasnt then I think you should confess to your girlfriend. If it was mentioned, be prepared for it to be over. You can never cheat and get away with it.
