How can the killing of people, of any religion, colour or creed, be done by "Christian" soldiers.
All of these crusaders were trying to justify the pillage and conquest of people and assets,by calling them "Christian" crusades.
Sounds familiar " Lets go and teach these guys democracy"
We'll start by killing a lot of them.!!
This jingoism or nationalism taken to extremes by people who are not elected by us , should be addressed by us.
For too long,we have sat in the background and done nothing.

Some do, most certainly.

It depends on what your definition of Christian soldier is, but the Lord's Resistance Army kills quite a few people, as does the NLFT. There are also plenty of terrorist groups in Northern Ireland, both Protestant and Catholic, where they claim that they are killing for God. There are also quite a few men in the U.S. army right now who joined voluntarily because they felt it was what God wanted.

In history, there have been quite a few other examples. Martin Luther led attacks on Catholics and urged that synagogues be burnt to the ground and that practicing rabbis be killed. There were of course the crusades, the inquisition, and various other times in history when religious violence occurred.

Oh course they did, it is estimated over 300,000 women and children were killed during the church's Inquistion - " Malleus Maleficarum" 1494...). This of course is not the only time in history people were killed in the name of God. Other examples _ The Salem Witch trials.... also listen to what is said by the terrorist factions around the world today. To them this is a "Holy War". History is filled with examples. Of course, to be fair in my answer, other groups have killed for religous reasons, other than Christians. It is all in the name of Greed, Control and Power.

Not all Crusaders killed, but a lot were loyal to the pope back then. He was a looney and used people to serve his purpose. A lot of them realized that what was happening was wrong and tried to find a peaceful way to rule a city while coexisting with the muslims. No, if you kill for no reason, but to say its in Jesus' name, it is not just a sin, it's blasphemy. That wasn't his message.

Bush told us the Christian God told him to "attack Iraq"--but saying the killing of 650,000 Iraqis was not a sin--because they were killed in the name of God--is just plain foolishness.

Well, im pretty sure they're not thinking about Jesus when there are mortor shells landing 20 feet from them and bullets buzzing by their heads. And plus, they're killing terrorists for the most part, so in my opinion, it is God's work.

most soldiers kill in the name of whatever state they serve, or in the name of shooting back because the bad guys are shooting at you, but what is the point of going on about the crusades? Thats old news and those guys are dead and in the ground and have been for centuries. its not like its happening today...., get current !

It's not ok to kill in the name of God.

It's ok to kill in the name of God only if that directly benefits the religion that controls that god.

Pince:"why would god make something so beautiful if in his name he would want them to be destoryed?"

I don't know, ask him, he has flooded and plagued away many times b4.
