Can anyone say that Jesus' message of peace, love and forgiveness has been corrupted, and if so, how could it have been any more corrupted than "love your enemies"?

You mean these verses?

"Fight for the sake of Allah those that fight against you, but do not attack them first. Allah does not love the aggressors. SLAY THEM WHEREVER YOU FIND THEM [emphasis mine]....if they attack you, PUT THEM TO THE SWORD. Thus shall the unbelievers [i.e., non-Muslims, more specifically Jews and Christians] be rewarded: but if they mend their ways, know that Allah is forgiving and merciful. Fight against them until idolatry is no more and ALLAH'S RELIGION reigns supreme." Sura 2 (The Cow), verses 190-193

In Sura 9 (titled Repentance), verse 5 it again says, "...slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, beseige them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them."

Moreover, the Koran repeatedly says, "Fight for the cause of Allah."

And just to clarify, I'm a born-agian Christian who has lived in a Muslim country. Just wanted to start a discussion....

They are not vastly different messages. I suggest that you read the Quran. There are a good 30 verses in the Quran on the teachings of Jesus. There are also plenty of verses on the ten commandments and such as well.

As for peace, love, and forgiveness, this is precisely what the Quran teaches. There are times when the Quran justifies violence (Justified war theory is common in Christianity, have you not read Augustine?) , however, it makes it clear that you only kill those who would kill you and if they cease, you should spare them.

Take a look at the life of Muhammad. He fled to Medina after Muslims were persecuted in Mecca, then helped write the Constitution of Medina, the first Constitution to grant religious equality. After violence broke out between Mecca and Medina, he led an army of 10,000 to attack one of the largest cities in the known world and how many people did this army of 10,000 kill? 24. Everyone else was given amnesty. I have a degree in history and this is the only case in history that I can think of where there were so few people killed in such an attack.

Jehovah is the only real God, inclusive of the God of Jehovah's Witnesses. Jesus is the Son of God. Allah is the god of the Muslims. So NO! we are no longer worshiping a similar God. If we've been we would all have self assurance and coach a similar issues. There are distinctive religions interior the international using fact of adult males picking for themselves how they opt to worship God and because devil the devil makes use of maximum religions to maintain humanity in non secular confusion so as to no longer worship God precise. God has continuously and nevertheless has one real non secular group, no longer many.

Allah is not God. Allah is the figment of Muhammad’s imagination. He was an Arab idol who had three daughters. Muhammad used this Pagan deity to advance his goal of domination. It was easier for him to use a known Pagan god than introduce a completely new one. So he said this big idol is the creator and the same god spoken by Jesus and Moses. Nothing is farther from the truth. Allah and Jehovah are not one and the same. The god of Jesus is the god of love. Allah is the god of hate.
He can punish anyone he wishes and reward anyone he pleases disregarding their merits and demerits. Tabari writes: “Then Allah rubbed Adam's back and brought forth his progeny. And every living being to be created by Allah to the Day of Resurrection came forth at Na'm.n. He scattered them in front of him like tiny ants. He made covenants with them.... He took two handfuls and said to those on the right, ‘Enter Paradise! And He said to the others, ‘Enter the Fire! I do not care.'” Tabari I:305
God must be constant or he is not God.

Allah is not the same god as G-D, Jehovah, the God of the Bible.
God loves His creation and the only way to be cleansed from sin for Him is through Jesus, by accepting Jesus (His Son, who was there at trhe Creation, the Word of God, not a prophet).
No fasting (Ramadan) and no number of prayers per day can cleanse us from sin.
Very many concepts of Islam are opposite to the Christian faith.
Jesus' message has not been corrupted; maybe some people who call themselves Christians are behaving in a way does not honour Christ, but His message cannot be corrupted.

The interpretations change.

Personally, I think that there is much to gain from learing about a variety of religions. Each religion shares in the same basic Universal Principle.

There can be only ONE Almighty God.
The two main religions have credited Him with different qualities.
Only one religion can be correct.
If Islam is correct, it means thje Bible is wrong.
If the Bible is correct [ Christianity] it means that Islam is not granting God the joy of having a son. Something that NO Muslim would be happy with.
Their whole Muslim family situation is oriented towards male children.
Islam certainly does not deny God [Allah] himself, but to deny HIM his SON, would that be acceptable to any Muslim father?
Why then would it be acceptable to God?

You are quoting the 'peaceful' verse, i think you should look into the many not so peaceful verses too.

Prophet Muhammad had a peaceful message, maybe you should study from reliable sources?

Let's operate on the idea that one god means "one God."

Is this one God knowable by the human mind?

How do we know what we know of God?

Is it not through human agency?

Their messages were not that different if you read the Quran. They both thaught peace and non-violence (but it was allowed in self defense). Muhammad taught freedom of religion, although he did say that sinners would suffer in Hell afterwards. Read the Quran and you will see.
