Hi, my daughter recently informed us that she wants to go to the Marines. She wants a job in intel. She took the ASVAB, and scored 105 on it, so she scored high enough to get the intel job. Do you all know any women in the marines?

Tell her not to join. The military is rife with sexual harassment and she is putting herself in a dangerous position.

Read this article, and don't dismiss it just because it's from Al Jazeera.

EDIT - LOL guy above me. Thinks all Arabs are terrorists.

I am a Marine Corp veteran. It will be a wonderful opportunity for her but boot camp will be the most difficult thing she has ever endured.

She needs to know that no matter how high she scores, what she is promised by the recruiter, what she wants to do, the Marine Corp will decide what she will do and where she will go.

Keep in mind that the Marine Corp is under the Department of the Navy and the Navy fills many occupational specialties. The Marine Corp is a fighting service; they are trained for the battlefield...anything else is gravy.

LOL, only the ones that I met when I was in the Marines. They made us do PT (Physical Training) and yelled at us a lot. WMs (Women Marines) are hardass women that few want to go up against.

She will do well in the Marines and she'll be changed for the better.

Congrats to her.

If I were her I would go into the army, intel jobs are plentifull, you are better compensated, its less physical than the marines, although not by much and there are different kinds of intel jobs to do.

EDIT: Lol to the guy below me, she wont be sexually harassed any more than she will be walking down the street in LA. Al JAzeera frequently supports Jihad against america and spews and hate speech.

I'm a former Marine. That is great! Intel. doesn't often have a lot of positions available so she may have to wait to head to basic. Just so she knows that. Good for her!

Yes, I know a wonderful woman that flies attack helicopters in the Marines.

---And just an addition

Be proud of her decision....I can only be thankful of her decision as a citizen.
