Paul wrote, "If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. O Lord, come!" The word here is anathema in the Greek, and means "a (religious) ban or (concretely) excommunicated (thing or person)" (Thayer's). If one does not love the Lord as he ought, then this one has brought a curse upon himself. Paul is not commanding Christians to "curse" the individual, he is revealing what that person has brought upon themselves.

so can we perhaps be a little kinder christians? This is after all gods word, so perhaps a little less of the "you will go to hell" stuff? (maybe you could just sit smugly smiling to yourself instead?)

Why do Xians misspell "atheist"? And we couldn't give a rat's hinterteil if you tell us we'll burn in your fantasyland. Words around these myths won't upset us, and can be most entertaining ('cause ya mean it! Ha-ha!). Fugetaboutit.

Many christians fail to do research on what they think they understand in the Bible. In Paul's list of who wil go to hell in Corinthians, he includes homosexuals (according to some versions of the Bible), but the real word was "effeminate". I know quite a few effeminate men who aren't homosexuals and a good number of homosexaual who aren't effeminate.

It would be nice if many who read the Bible did just a bit of research and knew what it was they were talking about.

Even the story about the camel passing through the eye of a needle, some still take literally, rather than the gate that the passage is really talking about.

Maybe it is hopefull thinking that some will actually study, but it's a nice fantasy.

Ah come on! A tiny curse never hurt anybody. (By the way 56 people in R&S have been cursed with Chronic Anxiety About the Weather by me, and you never hear them complaining!)
And I never tell people to go to Hell either. Hell doesn't exist...well here at R&S I guess Hell would be the Mythology and Folklore section...

Why do athiests curse Christians??
If you are a Christian, then asking "why do Christians...." includes you if you want to make such a general statement.

If you are not a Christian, then don't use the Bible to correct others because you don't know the half of it.

Christians curse atheists because they know we've got their number and they are really scared of us.
