Separate categories for Buddists, Christians, Mormons, Jews, Atheists, Muslims, etc. ? Wouldn't that eliminate all the "shock" questions for other religions, the trolling, rudeness, etc. ? Then serious questions could be asked and answered...similar beliefs shared...and there could be PEACE on R&L? :)

I can see some problems with that. If Y!A does a category for every religion out there, there won't be any bandwidth left for anything else. And then the Christians will want the categories further subdivided into denominations, and some of the Orthodox Jews won't want to participate in the same group as the Reformed Jews.

Plus which, I enjoy the variety here. I've learned a lot about other belief systems, thanks to the diversity of this group. I've met some terrific folks from all walks of life, not just from my own background and denomination. And I'm still learning how to listen to the Holy Spirit in order to give a good response to questions.

All in all, I like things the way they are. I think we'd still have trolls even if we divided the categories, so why bother? IMHO, we derive peace from within, and even if this place is a zoo some days, we can still maintain our calmness and good attitude.*

* Feel free to remind me of these words the next time that this place is getting on my last thin frayed nerve! ;-)

How would that keep Atheists from asking questions, or answering them on R&S Christians or Buddists or whatever?

I would like that, Mythology is already a place for people who practice maigc religiouly. And also, I oculd get away from the constant bickering of christians arguing about which chruch is the true church etc. and it would also be less crowded, you oculd srot thourgh all the questions better. Im for it.

At one point I thought it might be a cool idea, but the dynamics of this category, as it stands, is far better... cultivate, instead, a calm mind that isn't disturbed by the opinions of others, no matter how "rude" you perceive them to be, thereby cultivating happiness for yourself. Only a controlling, manipulative mind seeks to shut up everyone who disagrees with a pov (short of hate speech of course).

No, it would not stop anything such as trolling from occurring. And they are all religions.. no need to make every separate. That reminds me too much of the sixties before civil rights.

"YA Answers" is not ABOUT categories. It is about QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS on categories in which a person has an interest.

Which is the reason they don't ask you to be a Duke in order to ask/answer in the "Royalty" category.

No, there's no need to thank me. I'm glad to be of service.

No, but I think a Division between RELIGION and SPIRITUALITY is good .... someone can want to know about Religion, but not necessarily be Spiritual ( Example, a Question about Sumerian or Mesopotamian Religions)...

No, because we learn from each other and some of us become stronger in our faith because our beliefs are challenged. It's good for us to deal with other people who don't always agree with us because it causes us to reevaluate our beliefs. By looking at our beliefs and our reasons for believing, we become better able to express thoughts and we grow and become better at considering other people's point of view.

God Bless!

No way. Well, first of all, it would never work anyway, because you could never separate everyone like that. People will go into everyone else's sections whether you like it or not.

And besides, that wouldn't be NEARLY as fun.

No.

Creating peace among those who all think the same way is too easy.

There must be difference and interchange for growth to occur.
