I need help with coming up with an idea for my Final major project at college. I'm using photography as my medium. So what should i photograph?
Before you say do your own home work, i like to get the views of others as they are the people who will judge my work. Also it's going in a local gallery so it's very important.
Aparently it has to have wow factor.
Please help.

Photography is about light isn't it? Get up early before dawn and catch the dramatic light when the sun is just rising and shining through the mist rising off the water, and creating rich colours and textures, in rocks trees, and plants. Use a light box to light flowers from behind so that the light shines through them and any droplets of water on them. Use a model with back-lighting behind their hair and dramatic side lighting softened with gold reflectors. Capture the sun shining through the water in a fountain, or the clouds and sky reflected in glass fronted buildings. Try lots of different things: take hundreds of pictures, and chose which comes out best. If you're using digital, use your old friend Photoshop to hone your chosen item to perfection, and do nice big dry-mounted prints to show them at their best. With photography the worst thing you can do is sit there thinking about: you need to get out doing it.

Take black and white you will then have the ability to work with the finished images in greater detail than with colour. Look at ansel adams work or cartier bresson, see how they used natural light to create shadows that can only dramatised the image more than colour can ever do. Themes local woods, the sea side, shopping centers using people whithout them know they are being filmed. you get a more natural image. Mounted on a white back ground and black frame always carries sway.

I would definitally go black and white. Try to capture america with all its hidden lies. I would take pictures stressing the fact that we are in a war (veterns maybe pics of soliders leaving for war.) Try to bring out an emotion in the viewer. Don't take picture of cute little puppies. Think of something that never been done be from. Ask someone in a bad position (homeless poor prostitue cancer patient) if you can follow them for a day to try and a raise awarness. find a cause to support

You can do a documentary on nightlife. Ive been wanting to do this myself. To go to the city (tripod helps) and just take pictures of people and clubs, people in clubs, and the party scenes. If you get some good angles and good artistic effects, it'll turn out nice.

If I was you, I'd photograph black and white, and something that gives off a clean vibe. Like swing sets, for instance.

If you have another hobby, try using this as the subject but try to capture it from unconventional angles or from the point of view of an unconventional observer.
