Hmm... more of the same... there's already water restrictions through most of Florida, and there was another sinkhole the other day on a golf course. It's not just global warming that we have to worry about here, I don't think, because if global warming goes horribly, there will be no more Florida, maybe a few islands, but that'll be it, there's already salt water encroaching into the aquifer, killing off coastal palms trees in some areas... I suspect with us pulling ground water out faster than it replaces itself (because we've gone and backfilled and paved all the swamps and marshes, and there's too many people here), we're gonna turn into one big sinkhole and the state will dissappear under the ocean faster than the ocean will flood us out...

It's a race, really, which will happen first, L.A. breaking off into the ocean from an earthquake or Florida sinking?

I moved two years ago from living on a small island in the middle of a sea where storms were increasing and it was getting harder and harder to make a smooth ferry crossing or to know with any certainty that the ferry would sail on any particular day. Still live by the coast but half way up a cliff on a firm rock foundation. Chose the house very carefully for wind protection and good foundations. Think making decisions like this will become increasingly important in the next few years. Many low lying coastal areas will be affected and living in storm affected areas will become difficult.

global warming is going to affect ebveryone, but not in the same way. if the seas continue to rise places like Florida, Manhattan and Hawaii will be over taken by the ocean. And the carbon dioxide can turn into acid rain and pollute fresh water supplies and damage crops. And with it being as hot it is, the ski resorts are going to loose out on major capital forcing them to close down.

I live near Seattle and global warming will probably benefit this region more than it hurts it -- longer growing season, more comfortable. Don't forget that warming is not all bad, it's a mixed bag of advantages and disadvantages.

it already is and has been for a while

: i have seen lands that have been turned from jungle into desserts by people in a matter of a couple of years ,because of the slash and burn method used by settlers and expanding agriculture, and i have seen rivers dry up because of deforrestation in many places in Africa and Mexico ,

i live now by the side of a river in Mexico where,in 30 years 5 species of fish have become exstinct .
and part of the year the river is dry this is for longer every year because of over use of water by agriculture and as a result of deforrestation.

there already is not enough water for agriculture to go around all of the year

and this is worse each year

farmers are changing their type of agriculture to agro forrestal because the sun gets to hot for the conventional open sky mono culture and the lands dry up too quickly

the price of good quality drinking water (that which comes directly from the mountain and only goes through a charcoal filter )is going up almost every 6 months ,as it comes from further and further away
and the purified water ,from the river,is becoming more and more unreliable or dicy because of more intense contamination .

already farmers are having arguments about water use ,and it wont be long before they start shooting each other (perhaps a few years from now

it is becoming too expensive to eat vegetables and few local farmers venture into this kind of production (it requires a lot of water)

most are into Mangos and other fruit trees and coffee
