It depends on the kind of weight you want to gain. I have a super fast metabolism, but gained about 20 pounds in 2 months by eating at McDonald's in-between meals. You can also drink a big milkshake before you go to sleep at night. But, this is what you need to do if you want to gain muscle:
-You need to eat at least 1 gram of protein for every pound you weigh each day (no more than 40 grams at a time). Drink lots of water to help your body process the protein better.
-You need to work out with heavy weights and low reps to stimulate muscle growth (if you can do it more than 8 times, it's too light).
-You need to let your body totally recover before working out a particular muscle again (less is more when gaining).
-Take L-Glutamine at night to help keep your body from burning muscle.
-Stay away from the cardio during this time (nothing that will raise your heartrate for extended periods of time).
-Be consistent! Good luck.

Eat Pasta, meat, and the food that comes in a box (ricearonnie macaroni, etc) But dont eat alot of fast food...then youll become way to fat and then youll be wanting to lose the pounds. Just gain weight by eating healthy foods, I gave some examples. Dont go eating chips and drinking pop...that is unhealthy and can effect you more than just gaining weight. And atleast excersise still if you do, one hour a day shall do.

Proteins are required for building muscles, so having high protein foods like eggs, milk, peanut butter, protein shakes will help you in gaining weight. Starchy foods contain a lot of carbohydrates. You can find more information at http://www.toloseweight.org/gainweight.html

Fried or fast foods, but don't eat too much. Just eat a couple days worth.
