i had that same problem, get a head collar it is well worth it if she starts pulling you can control her more easier .it might be a while before she gets used to it but it worked on my dog and the results ,you notice within a couple of days , its called a halti that goes around the head , pet stores reccomend it. Its better than spending lots of money on training classes.

By finding the right collar. I took my pit to a trainer and it simply was because I was using the wrong collar. I now use a prong collar (while training) make sure you keep the leash short and you give commands. Such as come, heal, sit etc. while on the leash and using the collar. You can use a choker collar as well. I was using harnesses, soft collars and mine would not break from pulling me around like a rag doll.
While it has taken a walk or 2 my pit now loves to go for walks AT MY LEISURE, not hers. In my opinion the prong is easier on her than the choker and I don't have to correct but once.

contact your local kennel club, join, and enroll yourself and your dog in obedience classes. In general, local kennel clubs provide excellent training for dogs and their owners at reasonable cost. You will discover that you are not the only one with problems, and that the problems will be resolved in a very short time. You will then discover the joy of relationship with your dog, and the friendships and opportunities that can come your way when you participate in kennel club activities. You may actually find you enjoy showing your dog, and win ribbons and other recognition by taking part in obedience competition. This is a great step up from choking your dog trying to drag it around on a lead. Enjoy!

I had problems walking my dog on her leash and I was referred to a great product called a "gentle leader". It is a harness that you use.
The harness has a loop in the front (where your dog's chest is) you hook your leash to that and when your dog pulls on the leash the harness re-directs the dog's direction and basically makes them turn towards you.
In other words, they can't keep pulling you forward if their momentum has changed direction. i went from having sore arms to being able to hold my leash with 2 fingers (I thought I would try that just for fun ha-ha). the other thing is is that there is absolutely NO TRAINING involved. My dog instantly knew that she could no longer pull with me. After walking her with the "Gentle Leader" for a few weeks I started walking her on her normal leash again and she was GREAT.
I still use the "Gentle Leader" for vet's visits and etc. when I want to have extra control over her.
BTW it is also totally pain free. I bought mine at Pet-Smart and it wasn't very expensive at all. Especially considering the results that I got from it.
Good Luck!!!

This really isn't a question that can be answered on a q&a site. Training a dog can be complex and involved. It can take several sessions or more to teach him one thing. Take him to a professional trainer; They do excellent work, and it won't take them very long to train your dog to learn to obey on command. You should research professional dog trainers online or in the phone book; some of them will come to your home to do a free consultation.

you should take your pit to petsmart or something to take the dog to training. Plus he's young so he should learn very quickly.

You can buy a choke collar to train him with. That is what I did with all of my dogs.
