I want to upgrade my 2001 Dodge Caravan SE. I am looking at an 07 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. However, a totally redesgiened model is out for 2008. Should I wait? Or should I go for the 2007?

Thanks!

Believe me, I understand that jap and other imports are great quality, however I would like to buy american. My 2001 has been GREAT. What I was looking for is opinions on whether the 2008 will be much better, and if its a good idea to buy a 1st year new generation or whatever.

You should read Consumer Reports, edmunds.com, and Car & Driver, because the Caravan is no longer anywhere near the best mini-van. You'd be better off with a Honda, Toyota, Mazda.

The 08's will be nice, but if I were you I would wait until they came out and then get a left over 2007, you should be able to get it way cheaper because they are trying to move them out for the new model. However, the 08 model will be very nice, especially with the 4.0 w/6 speed auto. You also might want to check into getting the town and country. They are the exact same thing, you can usually get them cheaper though.I have had a 2001 town and country, 2005, and I currently have a 2006. I have never had to do anything to any of these vans except oil changes and brakes on the 01. If I were you though, I would opt for the 3.8L. I had the 3.3 in the 01 and 05, it still moved pretty good for a minivan but the 3.8 in the 06 is allot better at acceleration. The stow and go is awesome, power lift gate and dvd is really nice too. I have the touring model which is the same as the grand caravan. I would recommend these to anyone, not to mention I feel they have the best overall looks of the minivans. Right now I am leasing a 2006 t&c touring with dvd, pwr. doors, lift gate, pwr. pedals, pwr. seats, overhead console (all three rows) aluminum rims, stow and go, 6 disc dvd and much more for only $203 a month with 1200 down and 27 months. Good luck on whatever you choose!!

I would wait, the new van will be much better. Your 2001 shares too much with the current van to be much of an upgrade.

Of course, the incentives on a 2007 are excellent. If you wanted new NOW, it would be a good time to buy.

Personally, I'd wait for the 2008 model. Also, the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey and Nissan Quest blow the Chrysler out of the water in many respects. But if you want to Buy American, wait for the new Chrysler.

Depends- do you want more features, or a better price? You'll get great incentives on the 2007, but I'd probably just wait for the new one. It's got some really great stuff on it, and might even be a true compeditor for the Asian Minivans. I'd wait.

your best bet is to wait!! there have been alot of issues going on with the dodge caravan. leaking windshields, bad motors, transmissions etc..... i have a 1995 dodge grand caravan and i keep my fingers crossed when i drive it because of the transmission. plus caravans have had alot of interior heating problems in the past and present. currently i have no heat in my van.. brrrrrrrrrrr... plenty of heat in the summer months, no heat in the winter months! go figure.. LOL! anyway. hope this helps on your decision.

personally i'd rather have the 07, proven technology, the new design of the 08 in my opinion is pretty ugly, but thats just an opinion.
