Fluid retention or edema has many causes.your ankles swell a s well as your feet. go to your dr an tell him of this,he will prescribe a water pill for you to take.what these pills do is the rid your body of excess water you ll be piddling often that shows that the pills are working. well it depends on where it is storing up and your age.
It CAN bulit up around your heart and lings and that causes CHF {concestive heart failure} it is basically like drowning from the inside.
Sounds strange but the more water you drink the more water your body will get rid of.
