Parsnips are a root vegetable similar to carrots. They are a pale yellowish color and have a strong flavor. They can be cooked like any other vegetable (boiled, baked, stewed, etc.). I don't believe they would hurt you if eaten raw, but I don't think they would be very good. I've never heard of eating them raw. People used to eat them as a staple like they do potatoes today.

It's a root vegetable related to the carrot. Parsnips resemble carrots, but are paler and have a stronger flavor. Until the potato arrived from the New World, its place in dishes was occupied by the parsnip. They can be boiled, roasted or used in stews, soups and casseroles. In Roman times parsnips were believed to be an aphrodisiac. :)

Parsnips are similar to carrots and potatoes. They are naturally sweet as they contain even more natural sugars than carrots.
My favorite way to have them is to mix them with carrots a little oil salt and pepper, and roast them together until both are tender and start to caramelize.
They don't taste a bit like turnips.

Well they look to be a sort of cross between a turnip and a carrot. They are usually white and the have a strong taste. I really like them boiled and with butter, salt and pepper. I think they are perhaps an acquired taste.

They are a root veggie like carrots. they kind of look like a carrot but creamy coloured. Very tasty. I think they taste a bit like cauliflower if eaten raw with dip. Just cook them like you would a carrot or put them in with a roast to cook along with the meat and other veggies. My mum would sprinkle brown sugar on them just before serving but I like them with butter and salt/pepper.
There are plenty of recipes out there ont he internet.
