I am considering getting a secured personal loan from them but they are requesting 4 mos. of payments upfront ($860) which will be applied to my principal and my first payment won't be until 07/07. Does this sound normal/legit? Please advise. Thanks!

I've checked with the BBB and nothing comes up. Is it normal to have to send them money before they'll give the loan as I stated above?

I had a feeling this was a scam although they did send me loan documentation including a note and lending contract which were both on letterhead. I also applied for a loan last Friday, 3/9 online and they contacted me Tuesday, 3/13, informing me that I had been approved through one of their "provate investors" but collateral was required (the $860). One other weird thing I noticed - on their contacts page, it has saying which mentioned Kennedy Lending. When I asked the rep from Greenfield which I have been working with who kennedy was he really didn't have an answer and 10 minutes later, that Kennedy Lending was changed to Greenfield. Odd, no?

A. I can't find them anywhere.
B. That's called an advance fee lender. Read the link below on advance fee scams. You'll send the $860 and never see your money again and won't get the loan.
C. No, it doesn't sound normal or legit.

Don't send them a dime. If they're not listed anywhere on the internet, I can't believe they are legit.

No, it's not normal to ask for money up front.

additional note to your additional note: Totally weird. It's a good thing you questioned it and didn't send the money in thinking you'd get a loan. People are so desperate to consolidate debt and they take advantage of the people that can least afford it. It's pathetic. I'm glad you didn't get taken. Their fancy letterhead doesn't mean much. Even I can print out decent looking letterhead right here on my computer.

I haven't heard anything, but im glad you asked that question, because they have recently approved me for a loan but wanted me to send them my frist 5 payments of 890$ I asked them if they could take it out of my acct. and they said they could but it would take 8-11 business days to where if I would money gram it, it would only take 1 day. which made no sense to me, my husband just recently got scammed off of waltons financial in toronto, ontario of 1,050$ ..so definatly be aware of them they've scammed so many people which we had no clue of until it happened then I seen all the complaints on BBB. I just dont see how these people can do this, obviously the people that are trying to get the loan have no money or else they wouldn't be applying and they just keep ripping them off, its awful. but I decided not to go through with greenfield, exspecially after what happened to my husband, and I also noticed when they faxed me the papers the person I talked to which was Casey Pennington, blocked his fax number so that made me weary too. Just be careful. :)

I too have been contacted by them. I have done a lot of research about them. I have called the chamber of commerce in Wichita Kansas and the stated they contacted the building manager and their is no such company their. When I questioned Greenfield they stated that they were under another name and they couldn't tell me the name. When I asked who was funding my loan they stated that it was a private investor and couldn't give out there information. They also at first wanted me to send 925.00 to Canada and then to a women in Washington State. I would if you are going to deal with them proceed with extreme caution!

I've never heard of the company, but you could use the Better Business Bureau and google the company to know for sure.
I've dealt with HFC/Beneficial before, and while I disagree with their collection practices, they are rather easy to get approved for an unsecured personal loan. If you want to take out a secured loan, check out your bank/credit union first. A lot of these places (Beneficial especially) typically lend to people with poor credit, and can charge high interest and have outrageous fees and penalties. Check out ALL your options, especially if you are taking out a substantial loan.

I would not send them any money. This morning I was offered a loan from a company called GA Trust Financial for $12,000 if I send $1,200 (10%) by Western Union for down payment. When I checked with other Yahoo! answerers, I found out that they are scammers!

my son got a call from greenfield lending services and he sent the first four payments, when the time came to get the loan they said because of his credit the lender backed out of the loan but they had another lender and he sent more money and so far he has got nothing for his money. so i would say they are scamers and please tell everyone you can about them. what they don't know is they are suppose to be out of wichita ks and i am in wichita and i am going to pay them a visit tomorrow.; wish me luck, i may go to jail.
