My neighbours are Hare Krishna and they put food out in the corner of the garden which rots and stinks and attracts vermin (mice, rats, foxes, flies, wasps etc).
I know all creatures deserve respect but I am worried about the human health issues.
If I ask them to stop they'll think I'm anti Hare Krishna, what should I do?

It's not composting, I think it must be some sort of offering - sorry I've tried to find out on ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Conciousness)website

Putting food outside as an offering? I think they're just being a bit lazy with their scraps after eating. This is highly likely the case if they are white hippies who like to decompose stuff. But if they are really Hare Krishnas, I don't think that they're offering anything, because letting food rot is obviously not a realistic practice. Because in the Vedic tradition wasting is discouraged.

Be polite and ask them nicely to stop what they are doing because of your before mentioned reasons. Most of them are sensible and reciprocative people. It wont be offensive to them if you state your reasons logically and practically. It shouldn't be an offering anyway, so don't worry too much.

Tell them you are not anti Hare Krishna,is that the right term for this particular sect ? Just tell them plain and simple you are the Public Health dept. That should make them scatter!!!!! hopefully to work.

:D I am a Hare Krsna and I think if they are real devotees and you ask them nicely telling them they are attracting vermins and such to your house and say can you take the food to a park or something because I'm not really good with vermins. Make sure you say please and thank you :P

blimey!! I didn't know they did that. Poor You. You must report them to the environmental health and safety office. They will sort the problem out for you and you wont feel anti then.

There's a solution... if they're composting, teach them how to compost properly, which can solve everybody's issue and if done with compassion and altruism won't do any harm... and bring you good karma.

You just need to explain your situation to the temple president. I believe every temple has it's own president. I have met two temple presidents in the past. They are very understanding and have the power to get things done.

Talk to them about it and explain how you feel. Maybe invite them over and explain your concerns.
