Taurine is a derivative of the sulphur-containing amino acid, cysteine. Taurine is named after the Latin taurus, which means bull *hence it was first found in the energy drink red bull* lol It was named after Taurus or bull because the first form of Taurine was actually extracted from an Ox... As you know amino acid are part of what makes protein therefore Taurine is kinda like a protein. So I guess what I am trying to say is that Taurine is the protein in that particular drink. It is not the "energy part"...I hope this is kinda what you wanted to know lol.
