No you can not. But a dog gets them from mosquitoes. And it gets passed around that way from dog to dog. And some will say cats get them too but I have never seen a case of heart worms in any cats I have been around.

You wouldn't get heartworms from a dog, you would get them from mosiquitos. Heartworms can affect humans but it is rare and doesn't afffect humans the same way as dogs. Heartworm can live in dogs for 5-7 years and in cats for 2-3 years. That is just to show you how they affect different species. There have been reports of heartworms in people but in general it is nothing to be worried about.

Heartworms are to dogs by mosquitoes that carry them and when they bite they transmit the microfilage to the dog and then after six months they develope into heart worms.
If a mosquitoes bites your infected dog and then another dog it can pass the infection to the other dog but not to humans

It is rare but it does happen - usually the disease shows up as lung lesion that can be mistaken for cancer. The reason that it does not happen more often is that parasites have adaptations for specific species. The immune systems of abnormal hosts usually recognize the parasite as the enemy and destroy it before it can do any damage.

yes. u can get any kind of worms from dogs. but luckily they have medication for it.
