the requirements were NOT to use an incubator, but to use our bodies to warm it, so we must wear the egg with us. Does anyone know a good way for a male to wear an egg without endangering it?

and also, i know the egg needs to be at about 100 F but what will happen if its only at about 90? will it still hatch? thanks.

Is this for a class project?
Our Body temperatures usually run about 98 degrees, You can put the egg in your armpit. You might run into a problem with walking or sleeping. It takes roughly 21 days to hatch an egg out, So consider you are going to need to hold this egg for 21 day with out alot of movement.

Seriously though, I would make a fleece lined pouch and wear it. I don't know what the criteria is for incubator but if it isn't too strict you could get some of the hand warmer pouches that are sold in the camping supply sections of most department stores. The hand warmers get pretty warm so if you need to put the egg down for an extended period of time it will not get too cold.

Good Luck, I am interested in how this turns out.

There really is not a place or a safe place on the human body to wear the egg with you, and it will not hatch if it is not between 90-95 degrees Fahrenheit. Your best bet is to use an incubator, or put it in a shoe box with a light, not too large. Sorry if this does not help. Good luck with your mother hood.

I think it would be a very dangerous idea to try and carry it around with you at all times. There is no way that would be safe for the egg. That is why chickens nest until the eggs hatch. They will sit on the eggs all day keeping them warm, will go eat when no other hens are around, and just wait until they all hatch. It is very important to maintain that heat level. Carrying it around would not guarantee it will keep the same temperature.

I think that the egg will hatch, but will take longer to hatch. Perhaps on the torso? Maybe near the stomach and wear a sweatshirt. The eggs also have to be turned several times a day.

Hi there. Chicken eggs need to be turned and incubated at a temperature that is higher. Humidity is imperative for success so that it doesn't dry out and die. Whose requirements are these?. They are not practical or feasible. here is an article that may help you.http://www.msstate.edu/dept/poultry/hatch.htm My opinion is that this assignment is not productive and will lead to the demise of all the chicks, assuming they are fertile eggs. Bring these concerns to the one who made the requirement and see if some other more humane technique can be utilized. have a great year full of learning and wise ideas.
