why are they making me feel drowsy

These are now used for both terminal and non terminal pain. If the dose is higher than needed they will cause drowsiness, it may also occur for a short time when the dose is increased. There is now a smaller 12 patch which I often start with or use to titrate up. You have given little detail in your question so I hope my answer has been useful.

Fentanyl is an opiate, ie a form of morhine. This drug is very strong pain relief but drowsiness is one of the side effects.

Almost anyone taking this would feel at least a little drowsy, including opiate tolerant patients. I'm surprised your Doctor and/or pharmacist didn't explain this to you.

Hi

Fentanyl is a narcotic medicine and narcotics can cause drowsiness. It's just a normal side effect with this kind of medication.

Because they are a strong painkiller, if you are worried at all you need to speak to doctors or nurses treating you.
